The role
As a Commercial Advisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join our Commercial team supporting future submarine contracts—managing changes, engaging stakeholders, and developing your commercial expertise through hands-on experience and dedicated training.
Day-to-day, you’ll support commercial management of future submarine contracts by handling contract changes, advising on terms, setting up NDAs, and contributing to meetings. Working with finance on forecasting and engaging with both internal teams and external stakeholders—like the MOD and suppliers—you’ll also develop your commercial skills through ongoing training.
- Manage subcontract tenders, evaluations, contract issuance, and full lifecycle commercial administration
- Provide commercial support and reporting to project teams on prime and subcontract matters through execution and close-out
- Act as a commercial point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including representation at key meetings
- Contribute to the selection and prioritisation of improvement initiatives within commercial functions
- Handle correspondence and queries efficiently, ensuring timely delivery of required information
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential Experience Of The Commercial Advisor
- Commercially astute with strong knowledge of the end-to-end procurement process
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
- Skilled in communication, negotiation, presentation, and networking across varied audiences
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify and mitigate commercial risks effectively
- Maintains a professional, positive, and supportive approach to both suppliers and customers
Qualifications For The Commercial Advisor
- World Commerce and Contracting (WCC) (previously IACCM) chartership (this will be offered to you if you don’t have this or an equivalent)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
