Role Overview
My client is seeking a commercially astute Commercial Finance Manager to drive financial performance and strategic decision-making across multiple trading channels and product categories. This role blends financial planning, analysis, and business partnering to deliver actionable insights that enhance margin, profitability, and operational efficiency.
You’ll be instrumental in forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking, while also supporting pricing strategies, promotional planning, stock management, and supplier negotiations. Your ability to translate complex financial data into clear commercial recommendations will help steer the business toward its growth and profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial planning cycles including budgeting and reforecasting in collaboration with trading and merchandising teams.
- Prepare and review weekly/monthly trading performance reports.
- Monitor key metrics such as intake margin, markdowns, sell-through rates, and stock cover to identify risks and opportunities.
- Deliver variance analysis across sales, margin, stock, and intake to support trading decisions.
- Provide ad hoc financial modelling and analysis for promotions, projects, and business initiatives.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to enhance reporting and decision-making.
- Partner with commercial teams to improve data tools and reporting capabilities aligned with strategic goals.
- Support supplier profitability analysis to inform negotiation strategies.
- Offer financial challenge and support to senior stakeholders across trading and product functions.
- Mentor and develop junior finance team members.
Candidate Profile
You’re a proactive and commercially focused finance professional with solid experience in FP&A or commercial finance. You’re confident working alongside Buying and Merchandising teams and understand how trading decisions impact financial outcomes.
Key strengths include:
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Ability to influence decisions through clear, data-driven insights.
