About The Role
PwC is the No 1 professional services network in the world with more than 230,000 professionals operating in 158 countries. In the UK, PwC has five lines of service (Audit, Consulting, Risk, Deals and Tax) and turnover of more than £4 billion. The UK Office of the General Counsel (OGC) has around 30 lawyers and provides PwC with legal and commercial advice in three main areas: Litigation, Counselling/Commercial and Corporate Transactions.
The commercial team works across the whole UK business dealing with contracts in all of our lines of service, handling a wide range of challenging and significant deals. Many of our contracts have an international aspect, and our expertise is also drawn upon by other firms within the PwC network across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It is a multi-disciplinary team comprising 14 lawyers.
Those 14 lawyers are split across Birmingham and London. We are looking to recruit a junior lawyer to join our team.
You will have up to 2 years of experience in providing legal advice, either within an in-house environment or within a law firm, ideally working as part of a commercial legal team. You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to build strong relationships and the capability to review legal texts quickly and draw out key points accurately.
The role will be based in either our London or Birmingham office. PwC does operate a flexible working policy, however, with all of our staff having the ability to divide their time between the office, their home and client sites.

- Review agreed contracts to produce guidance notes for use by our risk management and engagement teams.
- Review global agreements and associated guidance notes to produce UK-specific documentation for use by global account teams.
- Perform other similar tasks.
- Provide ad hoc support to our more senior lawyers on particular projects or deals.
This Role Is For You If
- Detailed knowledge of English Law, up to 2 years PQE (or equivalent)
- Worked in-house for a company, or if in a law firm you will have worked with clients in the commercial sector
- Some knowledge of GDPR would be an advantage
- Ability to gain a full appreciation of the wider reputational, commercial and business aspects of each deal
- Ability to tailor advice to the specific needs of the business and apply common sense and practical solutions
- Ability to adapt, change and be open minded and innovative
- Strong drafting skills and the ability to flex communication style to suit a particular situation
- Appetite to learn and develop.
