Commercial Litigation Paralegal – Hale (Full-Time, Office-Based)

Location: Hale, South Manchester

Salary: Up to £28,000 DOE

Working Pattern: Full-time, fully office-based

Overview:

A highly regarded boutique law firm in Hale is seeking an ambitious and driven Commercial Litigation Paralegal to join their expanding disputes team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest in contentious work who is looking to build their litigation experience within a reputable, specialist practice known for high-quality work.

The ideal candidate will have prior exposure to commercial litigation, civil disputes, debt recovery or other contentious matters. You will be working closely with senior solicitors on a wide range of complex cases while taking increasing responsibility over time.

Key Responsibilities:

Case Handling & Support

• Assist fee earners with the management of a varied commercial litigation caseload, including contract disputes, debt recovery, landlord/tenant disputes, professional negligence, shareholder disputes, and general civil litigation.
• Conduct legal research, prepare case summaries, and assist with developing case strategies.
• Review evidence, disclosure, financial documentation, and reports.

Drafting & Document Preparation:

• Draft litigation documents including:
• Letters before action
• Statements of case
• Witness statements
• Applications
• Instructions to counsel
• Trial bundles and hearing documentation
• Prepare correspondence with clients, experts, counsel, and opposing solicitors.

Client & Third-Party Interaction:

• Liaise professionally with clients, providing updates, obtaining instructions, and managing expectations.
• Communicate with courts, counsel’s chambers, experts, process servers, and external agencies.
• Handle telephone and email enquiries efficiently.

Administrative & Procedural Work:

• Assist with file opening, compliance checks (AML, KYC), and case management.
• Ensure all deadlines are met, including CPR timetables, court directions, and internal milestones.
• Maintain accurate records on the case management system and prepare files for billing.

Requirements:

• Experience as a Paralegal within commercial litigation, civil litigation, or debt recovery (preferred).
• Strong understanding of litigation processes, CPR rules, and pre-action protocols.
• Excellent drafting skills and strong attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with the ability to work directly with clients and senior solicitors.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.
• Strong legal research skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
• Law degree, LPC/SQE or equivalent legal qualification (desirable but not essential).
