We are currently recruiting for a
Commis Chef to join our team at one of our workplace restaurants in London EC2N.
This is a permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm. Proposed start date 8th September 2025.
The successful candidate will be subject to a basic DBS and Financial check.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated
Commis Chef to join our catering team, providing breakfast and lunch service for around 200 staff daily, plus hospitality catering and occasional evening events. This role offers the chance to work with fresh ingredients, learn from experienced chefs, and develop your skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food Preparation & Service
- Assist with the preparation and cooking of imaginative, high-quality dishes.
- Use fresh ingredients and follow the “little and often” approach to keep food at its best.
- Present dishes neatly, using one-portion plates or bowls with simple garnishes.
- Support service for breakfast, lunch, and occasional evening events.
Menu Support & Stock Control
- Help with menu preparation and adapting dishes to suit customer needs.
- Maintain portion control and follow recipe guidelines.
- Assist with stock rotation, deliveries, and storage following food safety procedures.
Teamwork & Customer Focus
- Work closely with the Head Chef and catering team to deliver excellent service.
- Maintain a “nothing is too much trouble” attitude with both customers and colleagues.
- Contribute ideas for new dishes, presentations, and themed events.
Standards & Compliance
- Ensure high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene at all times.
- Inform senior staff of any ingredient changes so menus can be updated.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Some experience in a professional kitchen (catering or hospitality preferred).
- Be highly organised and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment
- Ensure you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
- Keep up standards of hygiene and ensure all areas are clean and tidy
- Have excellent customer service and social skills
- Have a can do attitude and will work well as part of a team of 12
- Be customer focused
- Have basic food knowledge
- Be willing to participate and enjoy working part of the team
