Our Strategic Infrastructure (SI) business unit has been established to deliver 17 new major projects in the UK, as well as other strategic projects, to help achieve the UK Government’s ambition of connecting 50GW of offshore wind by 2030.

That's why we're seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to join our SI Offshore engineering team, leading and coordinating commissioning activities across various HVDC infrastructure projects being delivered under the Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) framework.

The role involves managing the commissioning process, commissioning engineers, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards, and delivering operationally ready assets.

You'll be a thought leader, shaping commissioning process and strategy required to deliver our growing portfolio of projects. You'll have the opportunity to work with critical JV partners, contractors and suppliers, as well as our various internal stakeholders.

In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to regular travel throughout England and Scotland, depending on the project.

Key accountabilities

• Act as a subject matter expert on the management of commissioning process, setting a consistent high standard across the portfolio.
• Ensure that delivery risk for ASTI projects is minimised through having a clear and widespread understanding of inter-project dependencies and sequences, fully reflected in programmes.
• Manage risks which pertain to deliverability or may manifest during the commissioning programme.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in the commissioning process and implement changes to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.
• Contribute to the development of commissioning plans, including timelines, resources, and testing procedures.
• Inspire and influence both internal and external stakeholders to realise excellent outcomes.

About you

• Significant demonstrable experience in a commissioning / construction role, balancing quality, safety, cost and delivery.
• Strong understanding of High Voltage Electricity Construction, managing safety associated with HV System change.
• Proven experience in commissioning HVDC, FACTS or Cable projects.
• Experience working with contractors or transmission utility companies.
• Experience of OPEX and CAPEX cost management.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Comfortable working in a matrix organisation with multiple stakeholders to facilitate cross functional teams which operate collaboratively and innovatively.
• Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• NEBOSH, CSCS, SMSTS or equivalent safety certification / qualification.
• Chartership or equivalent membership of a relevant professional body.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £66,000 – £85,000 – dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a job requirement car, a bonus of up to 30% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
