Team overview
Ofcom’s mission is to make communications work for everyone. We are looking for an experienced communications campaigns manager to help plan and oversee campaigns which support Ofcom’s work in online safety.
Ofcom is the regulator for the communications services that we use and rely on each day. We regulate services from phone and broadband to TV and radio, airwaves and the postal service. And, crucially for this role, we’ve taken on new duties to make online services safer for everyone. It’s important work on behalf of
people across the UK.
The industries Ofcom regulates are evolving fast, making this an exciting time to join our team. High-quality, reliable communications services have never mattered more to people’s lives, and making the online world safer is a generational task. The Communications Campaigns Manager sits in Ofcom’s fast-paced, welcoming and expert Communications Department – previously judged by PR Week as the best place to work in-house in the UK.
Purpose of the Role
The Communications Campaigns Manager will plan and oversee a strategic communications programme designed to explain new online safety rules to UK internet users of all ages.
You’ll work closely with colleagues in the Communications Department, in Media Relations, Social Media and Insights & Evaluation, as well as colleagues in Ofcom’s Online Safety policy teams, to plan and manage an integrated communications programme across all platforms. These campaigns will communicate important messages about online safety to consumers and other interested audiences.
We are looking for someone with a strong news sense and a strategic communications and campaigns background. You will bring a combination of media and digital experience, combined with a proven planning and project management skillset.
It’s important that you are good at building strong relationships – often on the phone or in person – with a range of internal and external parties. For Ofcom, these might range from policy professionals to third-party spokespeople, from representatives of charities and expert bodies through to schools or digital-outreach agencies. You’ll be bringing a wide range of people on board, and you’ll be central to how we communicate vital information to the public about online safety.
