Description
About The Role

The UK has set out its ambition to be net zero by 2050 and the energy industry is responding – together we are building a cleaner, greener Britain.

As Community Benefits and Partnerships Manager, you’ll be working across the Strategic Infrastructure projects, helping to make the Great Grid Upgrade synonymous with positive social and economic outcomes.

In this role you will develop a solid understanding of the regions where we are developing new infrastructure projects, by analysing socioeconomic data, research and insights from consultation and regional engagement. You will use these insights to develop and deliver partnerships and programmes which deliver socioeconomic benefits across regions hosting Strategic Infrastructure projects. This might include, for example, skills, employment and social mobility programmes.

You will help to develop the governance of these strategic investments, ensuring compliance with the government guidance on community benefits, as well as monitoring and reporting, helping to develop positive headline narratives.

Importantly, you will work closely with our supply chain partners, including in the Great Grid Partnership, to drive alignment to our socioeconomic and community benefit strategy and maximise benefits for our communities. You will also work closely with internal functions including procurement, workforce planning, responsible business (including social value specialists) and our team of External Affairs leads.

This role require regular travel within the UK.

  • Experience of strategic thinking and an ability to turn initial concepts into fully fledged deliverables whilst also obtaining the support of key stakeholders.
  • Current, comprehensive knowledge and understanding of consenting and construction delivery disciplines.
  • Experience of financial management, and knowledge of how projects are funded.
  • Competent in Project Management Skills.
  • UK driving license

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At National Grid, we’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace for everyone. So if you’re excited about this role but your experience or qualifications don’t match the job description exactly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right person for our growing business in this role or another one.
