Job Summary:


This multifaceted role sits at the heart of GWR’s Global TV & Digital Team. The Community Manager is responsible for building, nurturing, and engaging our online communities across a variety of social media platforms.

This role plays a key part in ensuring the brand’s presence is consistent, lively, and responsive to audience needs. The Community Manager oversees daily communications, content scheduling, audience interactions, and supports business objectives through social channels, customer engagement, and risk management. 


Roles and Responsibilities:


Community Engagement and Conversations

  • Actively engage with users in the community by providing information, responding to comments and questions, moderating discussions, and managing feedback and spam on channels such as X, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, and Reddit.
  • Building and maintaining Facebook groups and identifying new opportunities – for example, manage the ‘Record Breakers’ community group on Facebook to foster active engagement with our record holders.
  • Identify opportunities to participate in conversations about reported records on external channels and encourage user applications.
  • Approaching other digital publishers for mutually beneficial niche genre content releases.



Customer service and digital marketing assistance

  • Monitor, flag, and forward customer service inquiries to the appropriate teams and manage brand inboxes/direct messages across platforms.
  • Support the business consultancy, eCommerce and book publishing teams by planning and promoting sponsored content, marketing and merchandise/record certificates through GWR’s social media channels.
  • Work in partnership with content marketing teams


Content posting

  • Share website daily news links across microblog and broadcast channels including but not limited to X, Threads, Bluesky, Instagram/Facebook/WhatsApp Broadcast, plan and publish ephemeral content to Facebook and Instagram Stories.
  • Schedule and publish short-form video content across platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, and TikTok, working in collaboration with GWR’s external digital publishing partners across other social media channels.
  • Look for growth opportunities to utilise evergreen content from the Guinness World Records archives that would be of interest to our followers and non-followers.
  • Proactively seek newsworthy stories and potential talent for new content and record opportunities, reaching out internally and externally as needed.



Social media responsibilities

  • Ownership of the Instagram and TikTok programming schedule, ensuring strong communication on timelines and changes with all key internal stakeholders
  • Optimizing titles, descriptions and thumbnails.
  • Building relationships with other content creators and collaborators – identifying opportunities and nurturing partnerships.
  • Flagging new video content approved by the records team to the rest of the digital team.


Website responsibilities

  • Occasionally writing news and / or record pages for the GWR website
  • Flagging new video content that could result in a popular news article for the GWR websites



Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as journalism, media studies/communications


Experience: Tangible experience in a similar role (3-4 years preferable)

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


·      Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·      A curiosity for facts, stats, human interest stories, history, sport, nature and more.

·      Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop for image manipulation is required.

·      Proficiency in Premiere Pro for short-form video editing is highly desirable.

·      Background or formal training in journalism highly desirable.

·      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.

·      Demonstrated experience in community engagement and management.

·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; confident and personable in both written and on-camera communications.

·      Ability to identify emerging trends and respond proactively in fast-paced, multi-platform environments.

·      Detail-oriented with good judgment to identify and escalate risk or compliance issues appropriately.

·      A proactive, creative, and solution-oriented mindset in a collaborative team setting.

·      Experience collaborating with creative, editorial and technical teams
