Based in our office on The Headrow, in Leeds (hybrid working) this will be 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll work closely with our Head of Legal and play a vital part in advising the business on a broad range of legal matters, with a particular focus on commercial contracts. You’ll support functions across the Group—including Commercial, Procurement, and HR—helping colleagues navigate legal risk and enabling sound business decisions.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Drafting, reviewing and advising on a wide range of customer and supplier contracts
• Providing pragmatic legal guidance to commercial teams to ensure agreements are both compliant and commercially sound
• Monitoring and supporting compliance with Group legal policies, including the Contract Authorisation Policy
• Leading legal training sessions to upskill colleagues and reduce risk across the business
• Supporting the legal team in reviewing and advising on additional areas such as employment, health & safety, IP and real estate law
• Advising on contract-related disputes or legal risk mitigation
• Offering input on corporate matters and, if needed, assisting with ongoing merger activity

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a commercially savvy solicitor who thrives in a fast-paced, people-led environment. Someone who can step in with confidence, build relationships quickly and provide sound, business-first legal advice.

You’ll need to bring:

• Qualification as a solicitor in England & Wales
• Strong experience in UK commercial contract law
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to manage a varied workload independently and pragmatically

Desirable but not essential:

• Prior in-house experience in a commercial or manufacturing environment
• Experience with M&A transactions
• Knowledge of other legal disciplines such as employment, real estate or IP
