Compliance Assurance Manager

About the team:

The Compliance Assurance Team forms a key part of the Group's Risk Assurance Function, which supports the Bank by delivering risk-based, independent assurance on compliance with applicable regulations and the promotion of good conduct. This assurance is provided through a structured programme of thematic reviews, compliance monitoring, and key control testing across critical business areas. These activities are carried out throughout the year in alignment with a risk-based assurance plan, ensuring that areas of highest risk receive appropriate focus and scrutiny.

What you will be doing:

As a Compliance Assurance Manager, you will have the opportunity to deliver our compliance assurance program, ensuring the organisation maintains adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.

In this varied role, you will oversee compliance monitoring, testing, and assurance activities, identifying and mitigating risks across business functions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of compliance, providing insights and guidance on compliance risks, controls, and best practices.

You will also have the opportunity to deputise for the Senior Compliance Assurance Manager, as required.

N/B-The role is based in Chatham, and will require occasional travel to third parties, and to other business sites for meetings or training.

Your responsibilities will include…

• Independently delivering and leading timely and robust Compliance Assurance and Monitoring reviews across the Group to assess the effectiveness of compliance controls and programmes to confirm that the Group is operating within its policies and procedures and in line with applicable laws and regulation. This includes the assessment of customer outcome across the full product lifecycle when necessary.
• Ensuring that risk-based testing plans are aligned with emerging risks, and regulatory requirements, adapting them as necessary to respond to new risks or regulatory changes.
• Managing the closure and standard of response to the actions agreed from Compliance Assurance and Monitoring reviews. Recording operational management responses and evidence, tracking progress and conducting proportionate follow up validation assessments.
• Responsibility for the delivery of Compliance Assurance and Monitoring reviews in line with internal quality standards whilst adhering to the Compliance Assurance Methodology.

We offer a base salary depending on experience and location of £47,000 - £62,000 and a competitive benefits package including:

Do you have the skills?

We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience and knowledge set out below:

• Previous assurance experience working in a compliance monitoring or audit within a regulated lending or banking environment is essential.
• In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance risk assessment methodologies, and industry best practices in compliance assurance.
• Excellent understanding of and ability to interpret the FCA/PRA regulation and industry body guidance, along with other critical regulatory areas is essential.
• Proven experience of successfully establishing effective stakeholder relationships is essential.
