As a Compliance Sampler in Water Quality, you’ll help ensure the water we supply to our customers is wholesome and meets both our own and regulatory quality standards.
You don't need any previous experience. You’re well organised, enjoy using your initiative and determined in your approach. This is a field-based role where you'll collect water samples across different areas of the Eastbourne / Hailsham area. We provide a company vehicle.
The water samples you collect will come from a variety of locations; including reservoirs, treatment works or customer properties. So, you’re comfortable speaking to customers and explaining why and how you’re there to help them. It’s your attention to detail that will enable you to ensure all paperwork, electronic records, water tests and samples are collected and recorded exactly as they are meant to be and in line with regulatory and company standards.
You will start your day at 6:30/7am and finish around 3pm. After the initial training period (around 2 weeks), you will be put on a weekend rota where you will deliver water samples to our laboratory in Farnborough. Whilst you will be based from our office in Pembury, Kent, you will spend the majority of your day out on the field. You will be visiting a number of sites and customers, so it’s crucial that you are comfortable with planning your own day and ensuring deadlines are met.
Sampling takes place on Bank Holidays as well (Easter/Christmas/New Years). Although you won’t be working bank holidays every year, you will need to be flexible to work them at some point.

Main responsibilities:
- The collection of samples from a variety of locations and undertake water quality investigations.
- Performing on-site tests and quality control checks in accordance with South East Water and the Water Quality regulatory standards.
- Planning your routes and self-managing your time to ensure deadlines are met.
- Ensuring all paperwork and electronic records are maintained to the required standard.
- Organising sampling in conjunction with water production staff to ensure the plant is running at time of sampling.
- Taking part in a weekend rota, where you will deliver samples to our laboratory in Farnborough
- You'll need: Skills / Qualifications / Experience
- A valid driving licence is essential
- Good level of numeracy and literacy skills
- Good customer service being comfortable speak with customers and explaining why and how you’re there to help them
- Confident with IT / Computers
