We are now recruiting for the exciting role of
Component Engineer – Nuclear Equipment.
The
Component Engineer – Nuclear Equipment will work within the Nuclear Equipment product design teams responsible for maturing the technical solution, working with cross functional teams and with a global supply chain to deliver product designs for the components within the scope of the role. The role requires that the candidate work to integrate all factors into the design process to define the product definition and supporting information.
The Nuclear Equipment product design team are responsible for the critical components within the reactor core, including Reactor Pressure Vessel Internals, Fuel Assemblies, Control Rod Assemblies, Neutron Source Assemblies, Core Instrumentation Components, Fresh and Spent Fuel Racks, and Spent Fuel Casks.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Design & Development: Lead the design of mechanical components, ideally within the nuclear sector, with a strong grasp of reactor systems, core operation, and spent fuel management.
- Technical Expertise: Apply deep understanding of system design, safety principles, and manufacturing processes to solve complex engineering challenges.
- Lifecycle Involvement: Contribute across all stages of the product lifecycle—from concept and detailed design to verification, manufacture, commissioning, and decommissioning.
- Supplier Engagement: Act as an intelligent customer, reviewing supplier bids and technical documentation, and collaborating to develop design and manufacturing solutions.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build effective relationships with suppliers, regulators, and internal teams; support audits and capability development.
- Communication: Clearly communicate technical issues to diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders; present safety case arguments and facilitate technical discussions.
- Project Coordination: Plan and manage work across functions, navigating ambiguity in complex projects with confidence and clarity.
- Leadership & Mentoring: Support and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages innovation and growth.
Pay And Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between £40,000 - £52,500 DOE plus:-
- Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 12.5%
- Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
- Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
- Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
- Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
- Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
- £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
