The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity to be part of the Information Services team based in the Chancellors Building at the Bioquarter in the south of Edinburgh. Working with a positive, friendly and supportive team providing a wide range of IT services for the College of Medicine. The team covers support for Information Services at the Edinburgh Bioquarter and Central campus.
The post is open ended and is full time 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday. The post holder is initially required to be on-site full time; however, we are open to consider flexible and hybrid working patterns after completed required training and knowledge transfer. You will be reporting to the IS USD Campus Lead for the Bioquarter and Central area.

What The Job Involves
- Providing end user support, resolving technical problems and providing guidance on computer hardware, software and AV equipment
- Installing and supporting a range of operating systems but mainly Windows and OS X
- On-site support with the assistance of remote support tools
- Providing AV support for lecture theatres, seminar rooms and various meeting rooms
- Advising users on appropriate solutions ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Maintaining and updating internal knowledgebase

A Bit About You
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Apple OS
- Good knowledge of networking (DHCP, DNS, Firewall etc)
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey information in a clear, concise manner
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Positive and proactive with the ability to deal with a wide variety of staff and visitors
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

About The Team
The User Services Division (USD) is the largest of the divisions in Information Services and comprises six service sections, namely:
- Help Services providing frontline help across all IS-managed services at the Main Library and Site libraries.
- Operational Services running the IS Helpline for all IS-managed services and providing expert IT support and service delivery on desktop and personal computing.
- Library Academic Support, responsible for advice and consultancy on all library services and providing regular liaison and review with each of the Schools.
- IT Consultancy, responsible for advice and consultancy on all IT services and providing regular liaison and review with each of the Schools.
- Relationship Management, responsible for maintaining an ongoing level of engagement between the University community and Information Services Group (ISG) on all IT services with regular liaison and review with each of the Schools/Units.
