This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main MEH, cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s 2,500 rooms.
The role
As a Construction Engineer - Mechanical Piping, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll lead, manage and motivate the team through implementation of best practice, support continuous improvement programmes to improve process/procedures and ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site license requirements.
Day to day, you’ll deliver Mechanical & Piping Construction Workpacks to support the MEH Alliance programme as well as providing and demonstrating a positive HSE leadership, building a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole construction life cycle of the Project.
- Drive Digital Enablement for Construction Progress - Lead the implementation of the Procon system to support efficient construction workflows and real-time progress reporting across the MEH Alliance.
- Ensure Compliance and Readiness for Site Activities - Manage the MEH Alliance’s interface with NNB’s Work Authorisation and Permit systems, ensuring all activities are fully compliant and ready for execution.
- Coordinate Safe and Strategic Site Access - Oversee the planning of safe access routes to workfaces, enabling smooth and secure construction operations.
- Support Precision Through Surveying and Data - Facilitate topographical and other essential surveys to provide accurate data that underpins construction planning and execution.
- Own Documentation for Construction Milestones - Take responsibility for ensuring all construction documentation is accurate, compliant, and aligned with the Level 4 plan—ready and accepted ahead of key milestones.
This is a full-time role with 37 hours per week based on the Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset.
Essential Experience Of The Construction Engineer - Mechanical Piping
- Proven Experience on Major Construction Projects - Demonstrated success working on large-scale, highly regulated infrastructure projects, with solid expertise in Safe Systems of Work and compliance-driven environments.
- Established Engineering Capability - Operated effectively at Engineer or Senior Engineer level, delivering high-quality outcomes and contributing to complex project delivery within multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications For The Construction Engineer - Mechanical Piping
- HNC qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience of installing Mechanical and Piping systems.
Security Clearance
