Job Description
Costain is working closely with Severn Trent Water on their Capital Delivery Framework, as part of its capital programme for AMP8. As part of the Design and Build Framework lot, Costain brings together its design, construction, and consultancy expertise to undertake renewal and refurbishment projects and will assist Severn Trent in its target to make continuous improvements to its safety performance, whilst ensuring continuity of supply and consequently lowering costs of its customers.
The Construction Manager will lead on all aspects of operational delivery and support the Project Manager in the successful delivery of the scheme.
Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in executing the project strategy and utilise key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
- Manage, supervise and mentor the site team as appropriate
- Maintain good working relationships and communication with the Client, Designers, Supply Chain and other key stakeholders involved in the project
- Implement and maintain safe systems of work in accordance with Site Health and Safety Management procedures
- Establish and maintain effective controls to minimise environmental impact and control all forms of pollution
- Ensure effective collaborative planning is taking place, identify and remove blockers to progress and support protecting the programme
- Work with the Planners to ensure the contract programme reflects the delivery strategy and is communicated effectively
- Have a commercial awareness of all operations under your control and proactively seek opportunities to deliver improved value
- NEC contract administration to client and supply chain, ensuring risk reduction meetings are carried out to limit exposure
- Ensure all records for measurement and payment purposes are prepared promptly, in the appropriate form
- Oversee the implementation of the Quality Plan, promoting a culture of “right first time”
Qualifications
- Recognised Civil Engineering/Site Management Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management preferred
- Experience in the Water Sector preferred
- Understanding of NEC ECC Contract
- Clear communicator with strong written skills
- CSCS Site Manager
- SMSTS, IOSH or similar
- Driving Licence
