Compensation: up to £65,000 depending on experience + Benefits

The Role

As a Construction Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role is in support of a strategically important contract awarded to our customer Ascent Flight Training Ltd in which we are responsible for the construction and delivery of supporting infrastructure to enable the delivery of flying training.

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the management and delivery of the construction programme and associated works at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose as part of the Future ISTAR Rear Crew Training System programme which is a sub-contract within Babcock’s existing UK Military Flying Training System contract.

  • Defining acceptance criteria for contracted deliverables and production of professional handover documentation to ensure timely close-out of project milestones.
  • Tracking progress on site to ensure the works continue to be delivered in accordance with the contractual information to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and upstream contract. This will require detailed construction knowledge to ensure all elements of the design have been constructed correctly.
  • Maintaining an oversight of the project as works reach Completion to ensure a smooth transition to operational teams who will maintain the facilities moving forwards.
  • Taking ownership of the overall Project on site, tracking progress against programme, liaising with relevant Stakeholders, driving conversations with third party organisations (such as SCIDA, Aquatrine, Client organisations) to achieve sign off as required.
  • Chairing monthly progress meetings on site; producing and tracking meeting minutes from such.
  • An ability to read, understand and disseminate technical drawings and converse with the technical requirements of the task in hand.


This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based on site at Culdrose.

Essential Experience Of The Construction Project Manager

  • Knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and quality standards is crucial.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) 2015 Regulations.
  • Experience of working with NEC and JCT contracts (and experience using supporting software such as Fast Draft).
  • Experience working with construction contractors either within the UK or internationally.


Desirable Experience Of The Construction Project Manager

  • Experience of working within the Defence and Security sector is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with senior level managers both internally and externally is desirable.


Qualifications For The Construction Project Manager

  • Proven experience as a Construction Project Manager / Clerk of Works (or similar role) within the construction industry.
  • A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must hold a valid CSCS card.
  • Professional Membership of a recognised institution would be preferable (CIOB/RICS/APM/ICWCI).
