You will be suitably experienced, hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (or equivalent) with at least 5 years of post registration experience for appointment to 8D; must be on the Register of the Health and Care Professions Council and must be registered as a participant in the Royal College of Pathologists Continued Professional Development Scheme.

Path Links is a networked Pathology Service offering a wide range of diagnostic investigations on tissue, blood, and fluid samples to two acute NHS Trusts, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trusts (NLAG) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULH), all General Practitioners throughout Greater Lincolnshire, and community based NHS healthcare providers.

Within the Blood Sciences Directorate, three Consultant Clinical Scientists work as a team led by the Blood Science Clinical Lead, although individually, they each act as the Professional Head of Department on their own site. They provide cross-cover for each other during periods of annual or study leave, including on-site visits to liaise with BMS staff and clinical users. The post holder practices autonomously as the single-handed Professional Head of Department for the Chemical Pathology service at Lincoln and Grantham.

To be a key member of the Blood Sciences Directorate committee and work within the Directorate to ensure the delivery of effective, high quality and responsive 24-hour Chemical Pathology services to patients, Clinicians and General Practitioners across Greater Lincolnshire.

To provide a consultant clinical advisory service on the diagnosis and treatment of patients to hospital Consultants, junior doctors, GPs, and nursing staff within the ULTH and NLAG hospitals and GPs and other health care workers across Greater Lincolnshire.

To provide expert advice in all clinical and analytical aspects of Chemical Pathology to the users of the service, including endocrinology, point of care testing.

All Path Links laboratories work to national UKAS accreditation quality standards (ISO 15189) and are fully accredited in all areas of operation.
