We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our multi-disciplinary team and help shape the future of Cardiology at Milton Keynes University Hospital ~ and we welcome your application for the post of Consultant Cardiologist with interest in Echocardiography and Heart Failure.
As a Consultant Cardiologist you will
- Provide expert clinical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Lead and develop specialist Cardiology services
- Collaborate with a team of consultants, nurses, physiotherapists, and allied health professionals
- Contribute to teaching, training, and research initiatives within the department
The responsibilities of this post include diagnosis, treatment and aftercare of Cardiology patients presenting either as emergencies or referred on an elective basis. Working with the existing Cardiology Consultant team, the post holder will be responsible for providing both inpatient (including in-reach) and outpatient services for MKUH, for which the Trusts will provide the necessary support.
The successful candidate will work with the existing MKUH team to provide a 7-day general Cardiology service for our local adult population, providing exemplary patient care at all times.
- The post holder will contribute to all aspects of the Cardiology service at MKUH, including provision of acute and elective care of adult Cardiology patients in conjunction with community services and regional specialist centres. Cardiology Consultants also support the Cardiology in-reach services, triage daily e-referrals from Primary Care and provide advice and guidance for GPs.
- The post holder will be actively engaged in the development and delivery of currently offered services both in terms of general Cardiology, and in the development of their subspecialty interests.
- The post holder will contribute care of patients using this nurse-led service and to the development of the virtual cardiology ward.
- The post-holder will work closely with the cardiac physiologists to develop and support physiologist-led services.
- Improve the flow of patients at MKUH by regular liaison with the physicians, facilitating investigations including imaging, Physiology, and the appropriate management of Cardiology referrals.
- Support with service developments and improvements to allow the service to continue to grow and meet the needs of the growing local population.
