We are seeking an ambitious and innovative Critical Care Consultant to complement our diverse and dynamic group of Consultants at Peterborough City Hospital. We welcome both dual and single CCT applicants.
Our current team includes Single CCT Consultants as well as Consultants dualling with Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine and Respiratory Medicine.
North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust provides Acute Care services to a growing catchment area of over 850,000 residents living in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and the neighbouring counties of Norfolk and Bedfordshire.
We run three busy acute hospitals in Peterborough, Huntingdon and Stamford within easy commute from the East of England and London. Together with our system partners across East Anglia, we developed strong research collaboration links to implement evidence-based practices in improving the healthcare outcomes.
Our light and airy, purpose-built, 16 bedded mixed Level 2 and Level 3 Critical Care Unit caters for around 800 admissions each year. You would be working as part of a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team which includes Physiotherapists, Dieticians, Speech and Language Therapists, Critical Care Outreach Practitioners and Clinical Psychologists.
We welcome applications from Consultants wishing to work flexibly and/or less than full time.
Junior medical cover is provided by two tiers and a mix of trainees from FY1 to Stage 3 ICM and includes trainees from ICM, Anaesthesia, Medicine and ACCS training programmes. There is an additional senior tier of anaesthesia support available if required.
We have a strong interest in Ultrasound and Echocardiography as a unit and support a Stage 2 ICM Special Study Year in Echocardiography. The Critical Care Consultants support a 24/7 Critical Care Outreach Team and also run regular ICU follow up clinics. We are particularly interested in applicants with a special interest in Echocardiography.
We submit data to the Case Mix Programme Database and robust multi-disciplinary team Clinical Governance meetings are held monthly; contributions are encouraged from the whole MDT. Our unit is well represented regionally and nationally; examiners for ICM, EM, Anaesthesia and PHEM; Deputy RA; TPDs, and roles with the RCOA and Association of Anaesthetists. We are committed to research and innovation. Our Critical Care Unit is actively involved in clinical research and has participated in several National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) portfolio studies.
