This is an exciting time for a consultant in intensive care to join a growing department in a hospital into which emergency services are being centralised.
The post holder will complement and develop existing services through the provision of specialist knowledge & expertise in intensive care medicine. The post holder is therefore required to have full registration with the General Medical Council & a valid licence to practice and be on the specialist register for intensive care medicine or be within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at the time of interview.
- Leading the care of critically unwell patients in the intensive care unit
- Formulating management plans, updating relatives, performing and supervising practical procedures
- Assessment of patients referred to the intensive care unit from the ward, ED or operating theatre and decision making regarding appropriateness of intensive care admission
- Airway management of all adult patients in the hospital outside the operating theatre
- Supervision and training of trainee doctors, clinical fellows and specialty doctors
- Contribution to the running and management of the intensive care unit so that the highest possible quality of care is delivered to our patients
