The post holder will lead, compliment and develop asthma care within the Bury, Rochdale and Salford Locality.
The post provides an opportunity to develop the difficult asthma pathway and ensure timely and appropriate care to patients in the Bury and HMR locality which is currently lacking. The postholder will input to local, shared and regional asthma MDTs.
Triage, virtual and outpatient review of general respiratory referrals
In addition, they will contribute to the Consultant rota covering the Fairfield ARCU (acute respiratory care unit) which has 26 beds including up to 4 level 1.5 beds and has the capability to provide high flow nasal oxygen, CPAP and BiPAP.
The post also General medical on call at Fairfiled hospital 1 in 11 weekends and approximately one weekday evening post take round and on call every month.
Lead asthma care at Fairfield General Hospital
To work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary severe asthma service at SCO and develop management
Pathways for Bury and HMR patients
Develop the business case for specialist asthma nurse service for Bury and HMR
Provide respiratory Consultant input to the acute respiratory ward on a consultant of the week rota
Triage, virtual and outpatient review of general respiratory referrals
To provide training, teaching and support to medical, AHP and nursing staff
To participate in development of guidelines and best practice together with involvement in clinical audits such
NRAP and NCEPOD and explore research opportunities as appropriate.
