Description
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative Nurse/ AHP Consultant, or qualified ACP who is looking to develop against the national competencies for Stroke, to work as part of our established Stroke team at ELHT. Salary is dependant upon grade and experience accordingly.

The successful Nurse/ AHP Consultant will work autonomously, assess and examine patients presenting with suspected stroke and demonstrate advanced clinical and diagnostic skills. As a clinical expert in Stroke, the Nurse/ AHP consultant (Or qualified ACP) will be a valuable resource to our multidisciplinary teams, enhancing the nursing teams’ skill and knowledge whilst working as part of the wider team. They will ensure their own practice and that of the wider team is within the Trust’s policies and guidelines. Providing high quality patient -centred care the post holder will contribute to identified Key Performance Indicators. In return you will be encouraged and supported to develop your knowledge and clinical skills.

  • Determine therapeutic regimens, prescribe a range of medications across the whole spectrum of the stroke pathway
  • Provide an expert clinical consultant service that promotes professional nursing practice with the identification and management of stroke patients, ensuring clinical excellence
  • Assess individual needs of patients using a range of different methods that manage risk and are appropriate to the needs of the patients , ensuring that highly complex facts and situations that require analysis, interpretation and comparison over a range of options are considered
  • Ensure that the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care are based on current best evidence and practice.
  • Be responsible for service development, service transformation and redesign within own area of practice and undertake research and clinical audit. Develop and influence strategies to ensure excellence in clinical care for patients
  • Provide education and training to all staff and students from all professions and contribute to the development of specialist training and education programmes within the specialism
  • Maintenance of clinical excellence throughout all aspect of their work
  • Managerial and professional leadership
  • Responsible and accountable for the delivery of a high quality patient centred service
  • Develop and strengthen links across inter-professional boundaries to promote excellence in practice
