Consultant Psychiatrist, General Adult Acute
Location: Woodlands Acute Care Centre, St Leonards-on-Sea
Contract: Permanent, 10 PAs per week, flexible working available
Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per annum
Enhanced Recruitment and Retention Package: £45,000 over three years

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the acute inpatient service at Woodlands Acute Care Centre in Hastings. The post covers two adult wards: Abbey Ward, a 14 bed female acute ward, and Castle Ward, a 9 bed male acute ward. Working within a specialist multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical leadership and high quality care for adults requiring inpatient psychiatric treatment.
This is a key role within a supportive and well-established service, following the retirement of a long-standing consultant. You will be part of a forward-thinking Trust with strong clinical networks, medical leadership, and a commitment to professional development.
What the role involves:
• Providing clinical leadership to the inpatient multidisciplinary team
• Managing admissions and overseeing treatment planning and review
• Leading complex case management, including MHA and MCA responsibilities
• Supervising doctors in training and offering guidance to MDT colleagues
• Liaising with community teams and external agencies to support patient pathways
• Contributing to service development, innovation and quality improvement
