Contentious Tax Lawyer | 7+PQE | Top International Firm

An international law firm is seeking a highly experienced contentious tax lawyer with 7+ years’ post-qualification experience to join its market-leading London-based team. This is an opportunity to work on some of the most high-profile and complex tax disputes in the UK and beyond, advising multinational corporations, public bodies and financial institutions.

You will take a lead role in managing sophisticated tax litigation, including work in the Supreme Court and High Court, and before the Tax Tribunal. The team is involved in high-stakes matters ranging from VAT and excise duty disputes to judicial review claims and tax fraud litigation. Clients span a broad range of sectors including finance, sports, energy and investment management.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in contentious tax, including direct and indirect tax disputes, excellent knowledge of HMRC powers and processes, and a track record of handling litigation and negotiation with HMRC and Counsel. You should be capable of supervising junior lawyers, building client relationships, and contributing to business development. Strong academic credentials, excellent communication skills, and commercial acumen are essential.
