Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contested Probate Solicitor (3+ years PQE) to join our growing Private Client & Litigation team in Altrincham. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contentious trusts and probate matters, excellent client-care skills, and the ability to manage a busy and complex caseload with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Handle a varied caseload of contentious probate and trust disputes, including:
Challenges to the validity of wills
Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975
Executor/beneficiary disputes
Proprietary estoppel and undue influence claims
Removal of executors/trustees
Disputes regarding estate administration and trust management
Provide clear, strategic advice to clients, often in sensitive and emotionally charged circumstances.
Draft pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements and correspondence.
Manage cases through all stages of the litigation process, including mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
Work collaboratively with the wider Private Client, Dispute Resolution and Tax teams.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services.
Contribute to business development activities, including networking, seminars, and marketing initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required

Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 3+ years PQE, ideally within contentious probate or commercial litigation with some crossover.
Strong knowledge of the Inheritance Act, Trusts & Estates law, and relevant civil procedure rules.
Demonstrable experience of running cases independently and confidently.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
Empathetic and professional approach to client care.
Strong organisational skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
A proactive, collaborative mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
