Role: Contract Solution Architect (Database focus)

Project: Trading platform transformation (Endur)

Industry: Energy trading

Location: London (hybrid 3 days per week)

Contract: 6 months rolling (5 year programme)

Rate: £750-900/d inside IR35

X4 Technology are partnered with a global energy trading firm on a major multi-year transformation of it's Crude & Products business (oil, refined products, low-carbon fuels). The programme centres on shaping the end-to-end architecture of the Products Trading platform, with Endur (v26) at its core.

The focus is on evaluating current capabilities, selectively leveraging Endur features and unlocking value without unnecessary over-customisation. You’ll architect across a complex ecosystem, designing a robust, scalable trading platform fit for the future. This is a high-priority, VP-sponsored programme with strong visibility, committed funding and a 5+ year delivery runway.

Requirements for the Contract Solution Architect (Database)

Key to the programme is a database-focused contract Solution Architect joining on a long-term basis. This role focuses on database design, performance, configuration, integrations and cloud deployment (Azure), ensuring the Endur platform runs efficiently. You'll define key parameters, manage the data footprint and support critical decisions on database platforms (Oracle or SQL Server) to ensure the architecture is high-performing, scalable and sustainable for the future. We're looking for the following:

Proven experience architecting and optimising cloud databases in Azure, with strong knowledge in Oracle and SQL Server
Hands-on experience configuring and deploying database resources on Azure
Strong understanding of tuning, parameter setting and lifecycle support
Ability to guide key platform decisions, considering performance, cost, data footprint, future scalability, etc
Domain experience in commodities trading (ideal), or adjacent sectors such as financial services, supply chain or logistics
Direct Endur experience is nice to have, but not essential

The role is for a 6 month rolling contract, with multi year scope. The rate is £750-900/d inside IR35, working in central London on a hybrid basis (3 days per week).
