Job Role The Contract Manager (Traffic Management Manager) will play a pivotal role in ensuring safe and efficient traffic flow within project sites, contributing to the overall success of construction or event planning activities.
Duties Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement comprehensive traffic management plans in alignment with project requirements and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to integrate traffic management strategies into overall project planning.
Regulatory Compliance
- Stay abreast of local, regional, and national traffic regulations and standards.
- Ensure all traffic management activities comply with relevant laws and guidelines.
Team Leadership
- Manage a team of traffic management professionals, providing guidance and support.
- Conduct regular training sessions to enhance team members' skills and awareness.
Site Assessments
- Conduct thorough site assessments to determine traffic flow patterns, potential risks, and necessary control measures.
- Develop and implement traffic management plans based on site-specific requirements.
- Traffic Control Implementation:
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of traffic control measures, including signage, road markings, and temporary traffic signals.
- Coordinate with relevant authorities for road closures or diversions as needed.
Communication And Coordination
- Liaise with local authorities, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to coordinate traffic management activities.
- Communicate traffic plans and updates effectively to internal teams and external partners.
Incident Response
- Develop and implement procedures for responding to traffic incidents or emergencies.
- Coordinate with emergency services and initiate appropriate traffic control measures during incidents.
Budget Management
- Develop and manage budgets for traffic management activities, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising safety.
Technology Integration
- Explore and implement technology solutions for efficient traffic management, such as intelligent transportation systems and real-time monitoring tools.
Person Specification Qualifications
- Proven experience in traffic management, with a focus on planning and execution.
- Lantra M6/Street-works Unit 10 Card
- IOSH/NEBOSH (Desireable)
- In-depth knowledge of traffic regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Certification in traffic management or related field is desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
