Amongst other things the service provides comprehensive Facilities Management services to users of Council assets, providing a high quality caretaking service to approx. 80 council buildings throughout Kirklees.

Caretakers play an important and practical part in keeping these buildings running smoothly. As a Caretaker you will be responsible for opening/locking Buildings, keeping them safe and secure for customers and visitors.

Working flexibly 5 days over a 7 day rota pattern including weekends and occasional Bank Holidays in a range of Buildings across Kirklees including Office Accommodation, Community Buildings and Town Halls.

You will provide a reliable Customer focused Caretaking Service by working effectively with Building Users to understand their requirements and taking a flexible approach to assist them.

As a Caretaker you will be expected to carry out general maintenance and minor repairs, reporting defects, initiate orders, and assist with deliveries. Event Support is required in Town Hall’s and Community Centre’s including stage erection, room set-up along with providing general customer care.

Daily duties include,

  • Opening and locking of Kirklees buildings
  • Health and safety monitoring
  • Compliance testing (fire alarms, emergency lighting, water quality)
  • General maintenance and minor repairs
  • Waste control
  • Events preparation and set up
  • Liaising with external contractors and in-house tradesmen
  • External grounds and winter maintenance.
