Contracted Hours: Between 06:00 – 22:00 | Flexible 5-day rota (including weekends & occasional Bank Holidays)
Location: Across Kirklees – including Offices, Community Buildings & Town Halls
Are you someone who takes pride in keeping things running behind the scenes? Do you enjoy practical work, variety in your day, and making a real difference in your community?
We’re looking for a
reliable, customer-focused Caretaker to join our Facilities Management team, supporting around
80 council buildings across Kirklees. From Town Halls to Community Centres, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our buildings are safe, secure, and welcoming for all.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Opening and locking buildings to ensure smooth daily operations
- Carrying out health & safety checks and compliance testing (fire alarms, emergency lighting, water quality)
- Performing general maintenance, minor repairs, and reporting defects
- Supporting events with room setups, stage erection, and customer care
- Managing waste control and external grounds maintenance, including winter duties
- Liaising with contractors and tradespeople to keep everything running efficiently

- Practical skills for basic repairs and maintenance
