The Role
The Associate Director / Director is responsible for the management of a portfolio of corporate restructuring and insolvency engagements, people leadership (including training and development), relationship management (both internal and external) and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice. The role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, and the ability to deliver high-quality work on a local and national scale.
Key Accountabilities
Technical excellence
- Ensure all cases are handled in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations and professional standards.
- Understand and apply best practice regarding departmental procedures, risk management and internal compliance/take on/engagement.
- Apply technical knowledge appropriately in the context of individual clients and display both skill and speed in resolving client issues.
- Actively contribute to the development of the quality monitoring processes in the R&I department.
- Have a broad knowledge of other service lines in the firm to identify wider client considerations. People leadership
- Supervise and mentor staff, providing guidance and support on case progression, technical and financial matters including investigations, case budgets and preparation of statutory reports, including financial statements.
- Assess the team’s ability to deal with future technical or regulatory developments and take steps to address any skill gaps including managing resource with training/developments.
- Lead by example and consistently set high standards for professionalism and ethical behaviour.
- Take a lead role in team meetings to cover development areas, case specific learnings and KPI reporting.
- Actively look for opportunities to develop others, give responsibility to the team and willingly delegate as appropriate.
- Provide oversight and take responsibility for ensuring that team members possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and behaviours required to deliver accurate, high-quality work for our clients.
- Communicate to the team the bigger picture and objectives of an assignment to strike a balance between seeking further detail and an efficient and commercial output.
- Seek self-development opportunities to progress career and enhance the service offering of the R&I group. Case management
- Manage a varied portfolio of corporate and personal cases including advisory, administrations, liquidations and sequestrations. Take the lead on managing and building those key client relationships.
- Manage and report achievement of KPIs for all projects including monitoring WIP, provisions, and billings.
- Present a range of possible decision-making options to internal and external clients including partners, highlighting the positive and negative implications of each to reach a decision.
- Consistently demonstrate awareness and sound judgement on decisions which are able to be made autonomously and escalate those that cannot to the partners.
- Scope and manage the production of high-quality documents/presentations/reports that are capable of meeting internal and external expectations. Business development
- Actively contribute to the R&I leaders group on business development initiatives, supporting the local partners with targeted events and marketing.
- Show willingness to develop own internal and external network.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness in proactively managing client relationships and identifying opportunities for future business/growth opportunities.
- Assist the R&I leader group with proposals, tender submissions and marketing initiatives.
Essential Skills
- Significant experience in insolvency matters including handling a range of case types.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- In-depth technical knowledge of insolvency legislation and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
