Location: Aberdeen (Hybrid – 4 days in the office, Mon- Thu)
PBS (Semco UK) are looking for a Cost Engineer or Senior Cost Engineer to join the team on a 6 month basis.
This role is responsible for day-to-day financial control of assigned project/s ensuring adherence to budget and preparing cost estimates by analysing proposals.
Details/duties:
- Oversee, monitor and control project costs throughout all phases of a project supporting the Project Manager and Project and Discipline Engineers of the assigned scope
- Create invoice documents, cost reports with supporting narrative, project phase reports and discipline level reports for both clients and internally for distribution
- Facilitate separate cost review meetings with Project Manager and client to ensure accurate forecasting and phasing within budget
- Identify potential overspends and action ‘Potential Change Orders’ to ensure timely and efficient management of change
- Review and approve project purchase orders and invoices, ensuring costs are aligned with the project budget and that accurate cost coding is applied.
- Review and approve purchase and service requests ensuring sufficient budget is in place and correct cost coding assigned prior to commitment
- Liaise with other departments including Planning, Engineering, Procurement and Construction to ensure the accuracy of cost phasing and forecasting, and maintain awareness of scope activities and their impact on the budget and schedule
- Review and approve invoicing
- Support with the commercial close out of the project
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the cost control function and provision of robust financial reporting.
Qualifications/Experience required:
- Previous experience of large project work within the O&G Industry
- HNC, Highers or equivalent in finance, commercial or business-related subject
- Essential: Demonstrable experience and knowledge of cost control, forecasting and reporting working on a large project and brownfield modifications
- Essential: Understanding of cost control systems including reporting, forecasting and invoicing
- Desirable: Understanding of Project Management principles, change control and planning and risk management
- Desirable: Commercial Awareness and an understanding of commercial terms and conditions
- Desirable: Proficient in the use of Time Writing system, ideally MPower
