Construction CRE (Contractors Responsible Engineer) - Rail

We are currently seeking a dedicated Construction CRE (Contractors Responsible Engineer) to join our team, primarily focusing on projects associated with the CP7 Civils and Structures Framework in Wales.
Business Unit Overview:
Our business unit is dynamic and fast-paced, handling a variety of civil engineering projects across multiple sectors, including rail infrastructure such as bridges, embankments, stations, and tunnels. We are committed to delivering high-quality work for long-term frameworks and one-off projects. Current contracts include CP6 infrastructure projects, minor works for various authorities and agencies, and ongoing Environment Agency frameworks.
Role Overview:
As a Construction CRE, you will play a vital role in managing the construction of civils assets, including bridge replacements, refurbishment of steel structures, and tunnel repairs. This position entails overseeing designs from the development phase through to implementation, ensuring compliance with specifications and maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Contractors Responsible Engineer and oversee all related duties.
- Ensure adherence to the assurance process and monitor design progress.
- Manage Permanent Works and Temporary Works designs, serving as Temporary Works Coordinator.
- Review and approve design change orders while coordinating with project stakeholders.
- Review installation work and perform inspections, documenting findings thoroughly.
- Facilitate the agreement on detailed designs and assess construction methods for cost-effectiveness.
- Promote continuous improvement and best practices across the team.
- Collaborate with the Design and Commercial Teams to manage workflow and contractual agreements.
- Support the project close-out process, assisting with H&S file documentation.
Requirements:
- Significant experience as a Construction CRE in the rail sector.
- Profound understanding of rail and civil engineering principles and construction methods.
- Familiarity with Network Rail’s GRIP process is essential.
Academic Qualifications:
- Minimum BEng Degree or equivalent.
Professional Qualifications:
- Chartered membership with a relevant professional body is desirable (e.g., ICE).
- Valid CSCS Professionally Qualified Person card or similar.
