Description
Our Creative Sector Tax team works hand in hand with the Media General Practice and Audit teams, serving a wide variety of clients from UK independents to multinationals.
MKS is preeminent is each of the creative sectors, acting for many house-hold name:
- film and TV production companies (including the large streamers)
- theatres (traditional and immersive)
- video game developers
- orchestras, and
- museums and galleries.
The successful candidate will provide compliance and advisory services to an exciting portfolio of clients.
We are a burgeoning team, not least since the integration of the former Shipleys business into ours, and the quality of creative sector work and extent of opportunity for the incoming candidate is probably unsurpassed at this point in time.
The pedigree of our client base and our close relationship with the HMRC Creative Industries policy team mean we often find ourselves on the forefront of developments in HMRC practice, which our clients find invaluable from an advisory perspective, especially when planning new productions.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering creative sector tax compliance / claims.
- Undertaking relevant technical research.
- Advising clients on creative sector tax reliefs, and how to structure productions to maximise them.
- Advising clients on non-creative tax relief matters relevant to them, such as employee incentivisation, tax advantaged capital raising, international tax matters, and restructuring.
- Coaching members of the team and reviewing their work.
- Support with business development activities, such as insight publications and new client proposals.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Professionally qualified (CTA/ACA or equivalent).
- Relevant experience aligned with the outlined key responsibilities and specifically recent experience dealing with Film/ TV tax relief claims.
- Ability to contribute to and benefit from a collaborative team environment with a strong culture of knowledge sharing and professional development.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and adapt to the dynamic nature of media and creative industry clients.
- Well-rounded technical expertise and effective project management capabilities.
