Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate directly with the CFO and regularly engage with Partners and Department Heads to align credit control strategies with firm-wide financial goals.
  • Lead and develop the Credit Control function in this newly created role, shaping its practices and establishing it as a core function within the firm.
  • Establish and maintain structured, effective credit control processes within Elite 3e and in line with firm policies to ensure a smooth and systematic workflow.
  • Take overall responsibility for efficient and timely collection of outstanding debts to improve cash flow and minimise exposure to bad debt risk.
  • Mentor and manage a small credit control team, providing guidance on best practices and overseeing their day-to-day performance.
  • Proactively chase overdue accounts via telephone and email, with a focus on practice groups and key clients.
  • Record all interactions and agreed payment schedules in the system to maintain a comprehensive credit history.
  • Promptly address and monitor any client queries or issues related to outstanding payments to ensure swift resolution.
  • Collaborate with Partners, Fee Earners, and Clients to maintain financial accuracy, address debt-related matters, and support strong client relationships.
  • Provide occasional support to the wider finance team, stepping in on complex tasks and ensuring that tight deadlines and deliverables are met efficiently.
  • Liaison with debt collection team, understanding the available remedies and advising on recovery strategies.
  • Reporting to the CFO on significant debts and progress on their recovery.



Skills / Experience Required

  • Proven experience in establishing, managing, and optimizing Credit Control systems within Elite 3e.
  • Strong background in law firm finance, with the ability to partner with and effectively challenge Partners.
  • Track record of building effective relationships across Finance teams and with internal and external clients.
  • Deep expertise in credit management, including debt recovery processes.
  • Successful leadership experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Driven to implement continuous process improvements and deliver added value.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong rapport-building capabilities at all levels.
  • Highly organized, skilled in meeting tight deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Analytical problem-solver with a proactive, “can-do” attitude.
  • Detail-oriented and numerically precise, with a strong focus on data integrity.
  • Adaptable in ambiguous environments, with a collaborative and flexible working style.
