The Role
Are you ready to embark on a challenging and rewarding career in risk? We are seeking a passionate
Credit Risk Analyst to join our growing Risk team in London. This is a new, hands-on role supporting the development and execution of credit risk practices in a physical and financial commodities trading environment. You’ll work closely with our Commercial, Operations, and Finance colleagues across the UK and Europe.
The ideal candidate will have at least 1-3 years of experience in a commodity trading house with commodity exposure. This role offers strong visibility across the business and is an excellent platform for growth into senior risk, treasury, or origination roles.
Summary Of Responsibilities
- Assess counterparty creditworthiness and recommend internal credit limits and acceptable payment terms
- Support onboarding and ongoing monitoring of trading counterparties and clearing brokers
- Management of counterparty relationships, involving direct communication regarding trading contracts, credit clauses, risk mitigation and triangulations.
- Monitor exposures and potential credit limit breaches; report and escalate adverse credit events
- Review and contribute to the documentation of credit mitigation tools such as parent guarantees and letters of credit
- Liaise with middle and back-office, contract management team, treasury, and legal teams to ensure alignment on credit terms and documentation
- Collaborate with front office and treasury teams on overdue payments and dispute resolution
- Maintain internal credit procedures and help build credit models and dashboards
- Provide input into the design and roll-out of new risk systems and controls
Why you?
As our new
Credit Risk Analyst, you bring 1–3 years of hands-on experience in credit risk, ideally within a commodity trading environment, giving you a solid familiarity in both physical and financial commodity contracts – from power and gas to emissions. You’re experienced in credit support tools and legal frameworks such as
EFETs, ISDAs, GTMAs, and CSAs, and have actively managed counterparty relationships, including direct communication around trading contracts, credit clauses, and risk mitigation strategies.
Your strong interpersonal and written communication skills allow you to collaborate effectively across teams, particularly with
Powertica’s trading and risk functions. You’re highly organised, proactive, and curious and you’ll thrive in our fast-paced environment where attention to detail and bringing initiative are key. Technically, you’re proficient in Excel with SQL or Power BI knowledge as a plus, enabling you to navigate and analyse data efficiently.
You’re eager to grow both technically and commercially, with a keen interest in valuation models and credit risk engines. While it is not essential, if you a progressing towards CFA or FRM certification, or have experience with credit reporting tools, this would be a bonus. If not, hopefully you’re open to learning and developing in these areas!
