Salary – National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £72,100 to £102,100 and London £79,300 to £112,300 pro rata (salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

Join a collaborative team within the Cross-Cutting Policy and Strategy directorate, which leads key policy initiatives across the FCA. We work to maintain a clear, fair regulatory framework that supports firms and individuals in delivering positive outcomes for consumers and markets.

You’ll work closely with a Head of Department and guide a supportive team, fostering a culture of learning and shared success while delivering on core responsibilities

What will you be doing?

  • Leading a team to deliver the consumer strand of the FCA’s five-year strategy and working closely across departments
  • Shaping strategic priorities through the development of the Policy Prioritisation Pipeline, supporting clarity and coordination across policy initiatives
  • Supporting inclusive reviews such as the report on the mutuals sector landscape, contributing to thoughtful analysis
  • Fostering a positive team culture by nurturing diverse talent, encouraging open contributions and creating space for growth and development
  • Empowering colleagues through coaching and mentoring, helping individuals thrive in their roles and be ready for future opportunities
  • Building trusted relationships across internal and external stakeholders, using influence and collaboration to deliver meaningful outcomes

Minimum

  • Prior experience supporting and developing team culture through inclusive people leadership and thoughtful guidance
  • Prior experience building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions through clear, collaborative communication
  • Prior experience shaping complex policy or strategy work, delivering large programmes with care and adaptability in dynamic environments

Essential

  • Strong analytical thinking, with the ability to absorb new information quickly and communicate insights clearly
  • A track record of driving change, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement
  • A collaborative approach to influencing, using well-reasoned arguments and adapting flexibly to different perspectives
  • Experience managing competing priorities under pressure, with sound judgment and effective escalation when needed
  • Self-awareness as a leader, adjusting your style to support team members and foster shared success
  • Confidence in interpreting complex data and drawing practical, timely conclusions
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders and represent the FCA with credibility and care
  • Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex issues and engage a wide range of audiences
