Job Overview

The Pain Team is looking for a new member to join our team

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 2 Theatre Assistant/ Health Care Support Worker to join our team at County Hospital .

Main duties of the job

The role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience supporting team members within the surgical setting, assisting the qualified members of staff in providing safe pre and post operative care for patients by undertaking duties such as performing and recording accurate observations, assisting patients in the preparation for theatre, escorting patients to theatre, caring and treating patients post operatively and maintaining a clean, tidy and appropriately stocked ward area.

Appropriate training will be offered to the successful candidate in order to provide good quality individualised care.

Staff will be expected to support other sites within the health board if required. Therefore, the successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility within their service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome.

Currently we are unable to provide certificates of sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the Home Office’s criteria. Anyone requiring a certificate of sponsorship is therefore unable to be shortlisted and interviewed.

Qulifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
  • Knowledge of how a clinic runs
  • Knowledge of statutory and mandatory training

Desirable criteria

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
  • Interest in pain chronic pain assessment

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Previous Experience at working as a Health Care Support Worker
  • Knowledge of chronic pain

Desirable criteria

  • Experience at working in a chronic pain setting
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in using Oracle
  • Experience in Welsh Patient Administration System (PAS)
  • Experience in Clinical Workstation (CWS)
