Data Analyst

Up to £47,000

Hybrid - Leicester (3x days per week in the office)

Our client, a leading retail business, is looking for a Data Analyst to join their Finance and Analytics team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with SQL engineers and Finance teams to build analytical solutions and reporting across four key areas: Accounts Payable (supplier payments), Cash Accounting (cash flow monitoring, e.g., Amex, PayPal), Commercial Services (store essentials such as hangers, bags, consumables), and Operations (stock in stores, warehouses, and tills).

You will perform SQL-based data exploration, validation, and transformation to support Finance analytics, while using Python (Pandas/Numpy) for deeper analysis, automation, and insight generation. There is also scope to contribute to AI and machine learning projects as the team develops these capabilities.

Responsibilities include:

Developing reporting and analytics in collaboration with Finance and SQL engineering teams
Querying and transforming data using SQL, including joins, CTEs, window functions, and profiling
Conducting advanced analysis and automation using Python (Pandas/Numpy)
Producing clear insights and visualizations for stakeholders using Power BI
Learning and working with modern data platforms such as Databricks

Skills and Experience:

Strong SQL skills and experience with data profiling
Python for data analysis (Pandas/Numpy essential)
Some Power BI experience
Familiarity or willingness to learn modern data platforms
