Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity is available for a Data Analyst to be based at Huthwaite or Exeter.

Reporting to the Inventory Team Leader, you will be part of NGED’s Operations Support Team. The inventory team are responsible for making sure stock is accurate available and well managed within the organisation. This includes tracking, ordering stock and managing levels, updating systems, compiling reports and completing regular stock counts. Communicating with stakeholders such as Purchasing, Finance, Field Operations & Policy to ensure inventory needs are met in line with the organisational policies and procedures.

As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working, with a maximin of 4 days working at home. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete, we anticipate this to be around 8-12 weeks.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertaking key data analysis functions relating to load surveys and data submissions, forecasting and material demand.
  • Updating and maintaining multiple databases, co-ordination and checking of projects
  • Providing data from NGED systems, proactively investigate and resolve any data issues and assisting with the investigation of anomalies arising from the data or its processing
  • Provide administrative support to the team related to data analysis
  • Interaction with key stakeholders to support their use of our information and improve analysis.
  • Extracting data from NGED’s forecasting tool and other databases for use with various internal & external (supplier) reports.
  • Provision of data for material item forecasts
  • Proactively working with the data owners and maintainers to continually improve data quality, accuracy and system integration.
  • Collating material forecast requirements from key stakeholders quarterly
  • Liaising with internal teams and computer systems to extract and import data for analysis purposes and to assist with integrity
  • Cross checking to ensure updates are reflected in material forecasts provided to suppliers
  • Gathering data for and providing regular and inclusion in monthly Scorecard key performance indicators
  • Check the quality of own output – especially given the uses to provide accurate material forecast requirements for the remainder of ED2 and for ED3

Ideal Candidate

You should be self-motivated, inquisitive and demonstrate a clear knowledge of the principles and issues associated with data extraction, data processing, data manipulation and data anomalies.

The successful candidate will hold a HNC or equivalent in a subject that demonstrates high quality analytical reasoning.

Must have advanced Microsoft Excel (including macro creation and code writing), Word, PowerPoint skills and an understanding of SQL, VBA and Python is essential. Experience of model building and programming will also be beneficial.

The ability to present information in a clear and reasoned way, together with an open yet analytical approach to problem solving with experience in report writing and presentations.

You must be reliable, demonstrate good communication skills, be well organised and be able to work effectively as part of a small team and use your own initiative.

Evidence of your qualification certificates will be required prior to appointment.

This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service, (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
