The role
The data and analytics manager is responsible for overseeing the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to support decision-making and drive business value. They are responsible for developing and implementing data and analytics strategies and governance, managing the data and analytics team, and ensuring that data is accurate, complete, and secure. They also work to identify and mitigate risks associated with data management, and to ensure that the organization is complying with relevant regulations and standards. Additionally, they collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven insights and to drive data-driven decision-making.
The team
The IS team at Shoosmiths plays a pivotal role in enabling the firm’s digital transformation and operational excellence. With a team of 76 professionals, the department is structured into two core functions: Technical and Applications. The Technical team covers Service Desk, 3rd Line Support, Business Systems Training, Compliance, Networks, and Security, while the Applications team manages platforms such as SAP, iManage and other core legal systems. The team is committed to collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on wellbeing, development opportunities, and delivering secure, scalable, and user-centric solutions that support the firm’s strategic goals.

Main Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of data analysts, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture
- Develop and implement data analytics strategies to uncover actionable insights and drive business growth.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide data-driven solutions.
- Engage with clients to understand their needs, deliver insights, and maintain strong relationships.
- Establish governance frameworks to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Implement processes for data validation, cleansing, and transformation. Identify and mitigate risks related to data security, privacy, and misuse
- Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in data processes, tools, and team capabilities
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in a Data Analytics, BI or Insights role at a senior level
- Experience managing a team of data professionals.
- Strong proficiency with Data Analytics tools and technologies - particularly Power BI
- Good understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning, or predictive modelling techniques
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
