About The Role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Data Manager to join our growing team in Southampton

What you'll be doing

Planning

  • Identifying and advising on improvement opportunities, particularly in the confirm and asset management areas that align with the strategy set out by the contract.
  • Agree high level time frames for completion of work and support with deployment of associated training needs.
  • Providing insights using data to support client requirements including bidding and information required to support devolution and the Local Government Review

Financial Responsibilities

  • Business Case Development – Defines operational and implementation costs for each of the options considered in the business case; produces high level project costs based on recommended solution; and benefits.
  • Budget Management – Helps define high level costs and savings within business cases including setup costs, operating costs and financial savings in order to demonstrate a return on any investment.
  • Liaises with budget holders and sponsors to agree project spend and benefits within business case
  • Ensures best value is obtained for the project including supplier base, use of resources and technology

Operational Responsibilities

  • Works on defining contract requirements and solution development with subject matter experts
  • Works with the contract and customers to agree contract requirements and support the securing of the required investment funding
  • Identifies the impact that any functional changes will have on the contract and advises on how this should be managed and communicated so that the change is landed successfully & the benefits achieved are in accordance with the benefits management framework
  • Proactively provides recommendations to current ways of working within IT and the business, supporting the implementation and embedding of any changes to current processes
  • Documents key processes within area of responsibility in a clear and concise way
  • Actively identifies risks, issues, dependencies and escalates upwards to ensure appropriate risk mitigation (as appropriate)

  • Understands and promotes the Balfour Beatty values
  • Proactively takes responsibility, owns any issues arising and follows through to resolution
  • Recognises how individual responsibility impacts team delivery and inspires others to do the same
  • Proactively identifies areas for improvement, shares lessons learnt across the contract and encourages others to do the same
  • Makes time to coach and mentor other team members as appropriate

Who we're looking for

The Following Qualities/experience Are Essential

  • Strong analytical and business analysis skill
  • An understanding of assigned business functional domain including business operating model, activities, data, process, and information requirements
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and proven experience in dealing with senior business users, determining requirements and priorities as well as resolving issues
  • Good interpersonal skills that enable working relationships to be developed at all levels across the business
  • Exhibits authority and leadership, takes responsibility, is Independent and self-starting
  • Demonstrates teamwork at the highest level, highly collaborative approach, among the first to volunteer to help others succeed.
  • Ability to engage and influence peers in I.T. and Business
  • Highly customer and delivery focused, meeting and exceeding customer expectations
  • Demonstrates the Balfour Beatty Values (Respect, Teamwork, Integrity, Excellence)
