Description

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Data Manager to work closely with our research team in sourcing, cleaning, validating, and managing financial asset price data. This is a critical role within the company, directly supporting our research, sales, and client engagement efforts. You will be at the heart of our data operations, ensuring the quality and reliability of the information that underpins both internal decision-making and client deliverables.

This position offers significant opportunity for growth, including the potential to develop into a client-facing role where you will collaborate directly with prospects and clients on data solutions. The role blends hands-on data processing with strategic vendor coordination, proactive data sourcing, and continuous improvement of our end-to-end data lifecycle.

Hybrid Role (4 days on site ideally). London based office.

Responsibilities

Data Sourcing & Research Collaboration

  • Work closely with the research team to understand and fulfil data requirements for ongoing and new projects.

  • Proactively source financial market and asset price data from both internal and external sources.

  • Build and maintain relationships with financial data vendors to acquire high-quality datasets.

  • Identify and evaluate new data sources to expand our coverage of instruments, markets, and macroeconomic indicators.

Data Processing & Validation

  • Perform data cleaning, filtering, and validation to ensure accuracy and consistency across time series datasets.

  • Use Python scripts and SQL queries to process, transform, and integrate time series data into internal systems.

  • Investigate and resolve anomalies, gaps, or inconsistencies in datasets, working with vendors as needed.

  • Maintain and improve workflows for the full data cycle — sourcing, cleaning, filtering, ingesting, processing, and monitoring.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with data vendors (e.g. Bloomberg, Morningstar, FactSet, ICE, LSEG) to resolve data quality issues, manage licensing, and coordinate dataset updates.

  • Work with internal stakeholders and clients to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality data.

  • Support vendor negotiations and manage communication around service levels, pricing, and data quality.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Run regular health checks on datasets to detect issues early and maintain high availability.

  • Prepare reports on data quality, usage, and coverage for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Monitor the performance of automated data ingestion and correction workflows, intervening when necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong proficiency in Python (for time series processing) and SQL (for querying and transforming datasets).

  • 3+ years’ experience working with financial data in a research, operations, or vendor management capacity.

  • Experience working with financial data vendors and asset price datasets.

  • Proven ability to clean, validate, and manage time series data.

  • Excellent communication skills for working with both clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Python scripting and interacting with REST APIs

Preferred / Nice to Have:

  • Ability to create clear and compelling visualisations and dashboards for the research team, sales team, and potentially for prospects and clients.

  • Familiarity with macroeconomic and market data.

  • Experience automating data workflows using Python scripts and Jupyter Notebooks.

  • Knowledge of corporate actions, instrument identifiers (ISIN, SEDOL, Ticker), and feed structures (intraday/EOD).

  • Demonstrated ability to proactively improve data processes and documentation.
