Data Privacy Analyst
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Team: EMEA Office of Audit & Privacy
Office Location: London or Sheffield, UK
The role:
The role will join the in-house legal department supporting the Data Privacy Office with European, Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa privacy and data protection related matters.
You will assist the Data Privacy Office in the administration, management, and continuous improvement of the Firm’s Privacy Program.
What your day will look like:
- Assist the EMEA Regional Privacy Officer, Data Protection Officer, wider OGC team and HR (EMEA) in the investigation and handling of data privacy incidents, including co-ordination, investigation, response, logging and reporting of those incidents.
- Assist in the management and coordination of other on-going compliance e.g. the Record of Processing under the GDPR’s Article 30, projects, and business reviews (e.g. supplier/TPV transfer impact assessments and country reviews).
- Continuously assess the Firm’s operations to review and update policies, processes and procedures related to Fragomen’s privacy practices and programmes (e.g. Data Subject Access requests).
- Keep up to date on current developments of privacy regulations across EMEA (specifically the UK and the European Union e.g. the UK’s Data (Use and Access) Act and the EU AI Act as it relates to personal data.
- Consult with legal counsel regarding privacy topics related to the organisations processes, including IT applications and systems.
- Remain well-informed and support team members with questions related to Privacy concepts.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, such as legal practice teams and other corporate functions to analyse and respond to privacy related issues and support Data Protection Impact Assessment reviews and processes, including DPIAs related to AI tools.
- Assist with responding to client related surveys and questionnaires regarding the Firm's compliance initiatives.
The team:
The EMEA Office of Audit and Privacy is one of the corporate teams supporting the firm’s core business. The team provides guidance on the myriad of privacy laws, creates firm policies regarding privacy and data, works closely with the firm’s IT security group to develop effective strategies and protections, investigates any data privacy incidents, conducts data privacy impact assessments, fulfills data subject access requests, collaborates with the AI Centre of Excellence, advising on the compliant use of personal information within AI tools in the firm, provides training to all firm employees and negotiates data privacy provisions in client and supplier contracts.
As part of the EMEA Office of the General Counsel (OGC), the EMEA Office of Audit and Privacy works closely with other corporate team members on a wide range of transactional, company secretarial and advisory legal work across EMEA, including commercial contracts (clients and suppliers); employment; property; professional regulation; compliance (including conflicts); sanctions; and litigation.
As part of the team, you will work with experienced immigration professionals and partners in our offices across the EMEA region, as well as being an active part of the wider OGC team which supports Fragomen globally.
What we are looking for:
Essential criteria:
- Experience in business reporting, privacy or information systems (ISO certified / SOC II certified organisations), however other applicable legal /analyst work will also be considered.
- Ability to deliver clear, practical and pragmatic written and oral communications.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of ServiceNow ticketing and dashboards, OneTrust’s privacy modules, Microsoft D365, Teams, Forms, SharePoint, Excel, Kiteworks and/or Atlassian’s Jira, would be ideal.
Preferred skills:
- Experience working within an international legal environment.
- Professional Certifications preferred (e.g. CIPM, CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPT, CIPP/C, FIP).
- Additional languages.

What to expect:
