Brief Description

Route Services is a division of Network Rail that provides the Routes with services so they can help Network Rail deliver a better railway for a better Britain. We support the Routes with a myriad of services and supplies they need to maintain and operate the railway. See the diagram for a breakdown of our services. This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.

SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving – making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule. Watch our video Working in Supply Chain Operations

About The Role (External)

In this role, you'll help design and manage how important business data is organised and maintained. You'll also work on defining what data is needed and how it should be used to support the company's goals.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Analyse business processes and liaise with process owners to determine asset data requirements; assess data and quality requirements in terms of cost, risk and benefit and their impact on processes, systems and resources.
  • Manage the specification of data and information metadata to meet business and industry process requirements assessing data and quality requirements in terms of cost, risk and benefit.
  • Maintain corporate asset metadata and process, data, information and system mapping in accordance with company standards and work instructions.
  • Liaise with relevant business managers on the alignment and implementation of metadata changes across affected systems and processes.
  • Undertake the provision of metadata required by corporate and third party systems and processes; liaise with system maintainers and stakeholders as necessary.
  • Undertake Master Data Management process assurance activities, reporting issues and working with stakeholder and business managers to implement remediation activities.
  • Undertake the development and implementation of relevant standards, KPIs, processes and procedures.
  • Liaise with business stakeholders on Master Data Management issues and promote awareness of the relevant standards requirements and good practice throughout the organisation.
  • Identify, develop and lead specific projects to improve Master Data Management processes, systems and risk analysis.
  • Act as company specialist on Master Data Management and data and information specification, providing advice to all groups, functions and cross-industry bodies.


The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following criteria:

Essential

  • A level, or equivalent, in relevant subjects.
  • Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Experience of information management, governance and assurance frameworks.
  • Experience of working with stakeholders to understand their requirements.
  • Excellent data and risk analysis, report writing and presentation skills.


Desirable

  • Degree, or equivalent, in an engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience of Master Data Management approaches and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of asset management in a railway environment.

Location: This position is based at The Quadrant: MK. You will be required to attend the office at least 60% of the working week.

Hours: 35 hours per week.

Salary range: £35,582 - £40,830 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Drugs and Alcohol Standard:
