Job Overview

The post holder will be required to ensure that all data relating to the monitoring of the RTT pathway for patients is collated and processed in accordance with national and local timescales for data submission. The post holder will provide timely information to Dermatology managers in relation to national and local targets for elective care, including breaches.

Working under the direction of the Specialty Manager, Support Manager and General Manager, the post holder will work closely with administrative, clinical, data quality and business intelligence analyst colleagues to ensure that patient pathways are correctly recorded on the PAS system.

This is a key role in the provision of supporting performance and data quality, and will need to exercise initiative, independent judgement and decision making to ensure the delivery of an effective and high-quality service.

Main duties of the job

The Post Holder Will Be Responsible For

  • To regularly download and validate reports on the departments performance provided by information management.
  • To assist in the completion of data validation tasks on a monthly basis.
  • To regularly check and clear up uncashed outpatient appointments.
  • To regularly check and clear up admission dates in the past.
  • To regularly check the care of patients whose waiting times have exceeded targets to verify that information has been recorded correctly and to facilitate further care where needed.
  • To check care pathways where information has been recorded as missing and obtain the required information.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • To assist staff in the department in the use of Careflow to prevent data quality issues arising.
  • To assist with other data quality and validation issues facing the department, as required.
  • To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • To assist in the training of new members of staff in the department, as required.
  • To work flexibly according to the needs of the service, including cover for colleagues during periods of leave.
  • To work with colleagues to appropriately manage the office environment, including resource management in terms of stationary and general office upkeep.
  • To ensure Medical Specialty policies are implemented within own work area and to contribute to suggested changes as required.
  • To ensure compliance with a range of Trust policies, including Health & Safety, Infection Control, Confidentiality, Data Protection, Sickness Absence and Risk Assessment.
  • Such other reasonable duties, appropriate to the Grade, as agreed between the post holder and manager from time to time.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Educated to GCSE/A level standard (including English and Maths) or equivalent e.g. relevant NVQ or demonstrate relevant experience
  • Knowledge Microsoft office packages, including Outlook, Excel and word

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Data inputting experience – excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Experience of working with large complex data sets
  • Clerical/admin experience

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of team working in a busy office environment

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure, ensuring the quality and timeliness of clinical data collection
  • Ability to work as part of a large multidisciplinary team and work independently and use own initiative on a frequent basis
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to interpret complex clinical information
