As a Day Operator at our Energy from Waste facility, you will support the day-to-day operations of the plant through a variety of essential operational duties. This includes managing deliveries, monitoring key consumables, maintaining housekeeping standards, and providing operational support across the plant. The role includes both routine and developmental responsibilities, with training provided to cover emergency plant operations and mobile plant use.
- Working hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm
- Location: Allerton Waste Recovery Park, HG5 0SD
Key Responsibilities
- Tanker Offloading and Deliveries: Safely receive and coordinate bulk chemical and waste deliveries.
- Consumables Management: Monitor and replenish operational consumables (e.g. lime, ammonia, urea).
- Housekeeping: Maintain high cleanliness standards across the plant, ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
- Daily Shift Checks: Perform and record site checks as part of operational routines.
- EfW Crane Cover: Provide break cover for overhead grab crane operations (training provided).
- EfW Thermal Plant Cover: Provide emergency cover for thermal plant operation during absences or high demand (training and shadowing opportunities provided).
- Yellow Plant Operations: Operate mobile plant (e.g. telehandler, forklift, front-loader) as needed – training and certification provided.
Person Specification
Skills And Experience
- Experience in an industrial, energy, or waste environment preferred
- Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to changing operational needs
- Good attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
Desirable
- Forklift/telehandler ticket (training will be provided if not held)
- Basic mechanical or process plant knowledge
Qualifications
- Full UK Driving Licence required
- Mobile plant qualifications desirable but not essential
