About The Role
Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity.
The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke.

What you'll be doing
- To manage an effective project Quality team (or part of) and support CWA deliver the project in accordance with customer and stakeholder requirements and commitments, including verification activities to demonstrate full compliance with Sizewell C, project and legislative requirements.
- Implement the Quality Management System in line with the project vision and compliant to statutory and regulatory requirements, including supporting updates of plans, procedures and templates and administer any change requests
- Manage the co-ordination, submission, compliance and management of all deliverables and the resolution of assurance related issues, and ensure implementation of project quality management procedures
- Provide guidance and review / comment on the preparation of deliverables such as Supplier Quality Plans, Method Statements, Inspection & Test Plans, Work Procedures, Material Approval Forms, Quality Record Templates, End of Manufacturing / Construction Status Reports, Work Instructions, and so on. This will include deliverables prepared by Suppliers. Assist in preparation of these deliverables as agreed.
- Ensuring the business is compliant with ISO 9001, Client nuclear project requirements and other industry quality related requirements
- Oversee surveillance of work activities to monitor that they are being carried out in the approved manner and that quality requirements are being consistently achieved.
- Identity opportunities for improvements to the systems and processes to ensure best practice, continuous and continual improvements to support a LEAN system for project productivity.
- Work closely with IT and Project information team to digitise and digitalise the site project deliverables into a progressive assurance tool to enable works progressive tracking and reporting on quality performance.
- Collect, analyse, and report on quality data (e.g., test results, non-conformance trends, KPIs) to drive performance improvements and inform management reviews
- Support the delivery teams and supply chain in the quality planning, review of quality related deliverables and set up the progressive records submission strategy.
- Lead investigations, work streams and track actions needed for improvement of the system
- Lead improvements, innovations and standardisation projects across our teams and supply chain
- Drive the right behaviours and support a culture of compliance
- Supporting the business unit external accreditation process (including ISO 9001, CARES and industry licences) to ensure it can operate in its chosen sector
- Provide quality-related training and technical support to site teams, raising awareness of quality standards and best practices
- Ensure all documentation is properly managed, stored, and retrievable for audits and project handover.
Who we're looking for
Knowledge & Skills
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Proven experience in a quality management role within ground engineering, geotechnical, or major infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., ISO 9001, BS/EN standards for ground engineering) and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to support delivery and engineering teams, conduct audits, and manage QA/QC processes in a construction environment.
- Confident in working with Senior Management and able to challenge existing ways of working to support improvements
- Ability to provide Quality leadership and build strong relationships with delivery teams, project managers, supply chain and stakeholders
- Awareness and understanding of quality and/or technical standards
- Substantial practical experience in quality and facilitation skills and experience
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion
- Pro-active, innovative, self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function
