A rare opportunity has become available to join the Dementia and Delirium team as a Dementia and Delirium specialist nurse to cover maternity leave.
The UHD Dementia and Delirium team is seeking a Band 6 Dementia and Delirium specialist nurse to provide expert dementia and delirium care at university hospitals Dorset. You will be expected to facilitate dementia Tier 2 training across UHD, whilst also working clinically supporting patients living with dementia and or experiencing a delirium. The successful candidate must havesignificant experience in dementia and delirium care, previous teaching experience is desirable.
Currently the role is Monday-Friday and does not include working bank holidays or weekends, however this may change in the future. The role involves working across all of UHD hospital sites.
You will require the ability to prioritise your own workload, have a flexible, proactive and resilient attitude in an ever-changing environment, alongside organisation skills and IT skills (including power point and EPR). Excellent communication skills and teamwork are essential.

Main duties of the job
To provide specialist expertise, facilitating evidence-based, patient-centred care for a defined caseload of patients with dementia, delirium or cognitive impairment
To work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to plan and implement individual care plans for people presenting with dementia, delirium or cognitive impairment.
To participate in the development, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of Dementia and Delirium service policies and protocols, as directed by the designated Dementia and Delirium Team Lead
To act as a resource and to provide education and training for patients and health care personnel, as directed by the Dementia and Delirium Team Lead and Trust Dementia Lead.
To support the dementia and delirium team to provide person centred care including supporting therapeutic activities for our patients
