Your impact
As Leonardo’s Electronic Engineering Department in Edinburgh continues to grow, we are excited to be offering a new opportunity for a Functional Co-ordinator. This role will provide support to the team, including the Head of Function (HoD) and People & Capability Lead (PCL). You will work with both to provide a range of administrative and analytical tasks, working to support the 350 people working within the department.
You will be confident in numerical analyses and representing data accurately and keeping data up to date. You will provide administrative support to facilitate the smooth running of the department, organising people, information and other resources as required for a large dynamic department within the Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract initially, with the option to become permanent after review. You will be based at our Edinburgh site, with some flexible working options available.
You will work closely with the departmental team to use your skills and experience to support management activities as and when required. The types of activities to be performed include
- Tracking the monthly functional financial movements, supporting the People & Capability Lead, identifying and investigating anomalies
- Provide recruitment support to the PCL, co-ordinating the distribution and feedback on CVs and candidates from stakeholders, the creation of new vacancies, organising interviews. This may cover the recruitment of permanent members of staff, early careers as well as contractors.
- To maintain statistical information on the function’s current headcount, taking into account movements due to retirement, recruiting, internal transfers, etc. to support the resourcing demands of the department
- To co-ordinate the onboarding of all new personnel to the function as well as offboarding those leaving the function
- Act as point of contact for the function for those requiring administration support for timesheets, travel, expenses, absences, etc.
- Assist with the organisation of departmental communications, briefings, attendance at recruitment and industry-engagement events, updating internal Confluence pages, etc
- Work as a member of a wider functional co-ordination team; assisting and covering for colleagues in other areas of the business as necessary

- Good personal interaction and relationship building skills
- Ability to work on own initiative against a variety of competing priorities, whilst maintaining accuracy
- Self-motivation with an aptitude for problem solving and driving issues to conclusion
- Ability to prioritise workload independently
- Highly proficient in using MS software, including Outlook and PowerPoint but particularly Excel, with an enthusiasm to use new tools such as Sharepoint and Confluence

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
